Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works with NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing in New York City. Mitchell began her career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she joined the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington she was made general correspondent by NBC News a year later. Since 1981 she began covering the White House. In 1988 she was appointed the top of the congressional reporters. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House reporter in 1992 and the head foreign affairs correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell is a regular as a guest on TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist as well as host. She served as a panelist during the debates for president in 1988, between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was the Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell was awarded the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 The Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contribution to the protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering the White House in 1981-1988 for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy stories like arms control, budget tax reforms and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went on many summits with the help of the president Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
